Day 31

Breakfast - cherry yoghurt and blue berries
Lunch - Chicken wrap
Dinner - A piece of basa with asparagus and greens with lemon and pepper.

It has been a long day today, I have been up since 3.30am at work from 6.30am to 5.30pm. Last night before bed I had a lemsip and fell asleep fine, but because I had a drink before bed I had to wake up to go to the bathroom. That was at 2:30 then trying to fall back asleep all I could do was cough and then I was conscience that I was keeping Dave up because he is only starting to feel better. So I got up and that was at 3.30 and I'm not feeling any better at 19.23.

I thought my dinner idea sounded nice and it looked nice but it was pretty boring. Good thing Dave is out he would have been really disappointed!

I like fish but the only thing I have ever cooked that has had any flavour is a tuna steak. I'll guess I'll just have it when I go on holiday! Or fish and chips!

I'm off for a sleep now.

Tuesday 27 October 2015

Day 30 - 1 month in and missed my goal

Breakfast- Cherry yoghurt with blue berries
Lunch- Chicken wrap
Dinner - Homemade chicken noodle soup (not noodles though whole-wheat fusilli pasta)

Started the day by filling up the crockpot- carrots, celery, onions, chicken, stock and herbs. Letting it cook all day while we are at work. Then went on my morning scroll through FB and found this quote

I mean it wasn't over a piece of pizza, I did that, but it did make me think. I am really trying and I am being honest. I'm not hiding the naughty food, what is the purpose, this is my journey and if I don't tell it m&m's, pizza and all, I'm only lying to myself. I hope that I'll be able to look back on this and see that I did have good and bad days and there is nothing wrong with that, I only have to re-adjust to move forward.

So Day 30 - I have only lost 1 pound in 10 days. What a bummer! but everyone is saying yeah but its still a loss. I know, but I could have lost more I was hoping for 15 pounds in my first month, but as I said moment ago, I just need to re-adjust and move forward. AND get well then I can walk again!

Home from work and the house smells nicely of my soup. It had reduced down a bit so I made more stock and boiled the pasta. It's not the most photogenic dish but it did taste nice and there is nothing in it but what was listed above.

and while we are at it here's my lunch too

Day 29

Breakfast- croissant and tea
Lunch - Boots meal deal - BLT sandwich, packet of crisps and NOT a coke but a fizzy cheery and apple water
Dinner - leftover beef sandwich

So last night was not a goodnight - Dave isn't well either and we were both coughing all through the night so we were pretty much awake from 3.30 tossing and turning turn to find a way to lay so we were able to breathe or find a way for the tickle to stop. I also had to be at work early as I covering the reports so alarm was going off at 5am. Don't judge me for my food today because I could not be asked!

I did receive my online shopping this evening and the delivery man was explaining how the delivery note was broken down into section by dates perishable and by the looks of thing you have bought loads of things full of vitamins and iron. So even the delivery man can see I'm trying! (just not today)

ps- I only just remembered I did have a few swigs of coke last night with dinner.

Day 28

Breakfast - nothing
Snack - handful of peanut butter m&m's - yes Dave they are opened in the freezer
Dinner - Pot roast with carrots, broccoli, green beans, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding

Dave was at work today - may plan was to take him to work so I could have the car to go grocery shopping but I stayed in bed, did internet shopping instead. I think I did good, you'll have to wait and see what I make next week.

I did end up going to the local shop to get the stuff to make dinner though. I put the beef in the crock pot on high until Dave got home as I only had a few hours instead of all day.... time flies when you are doing nothing! Dinner was pretty tasty and I ate 3/4 of a head of broccoli so filling as well.

Loads of beef left over for dinner tomorrow.

Day 27

Brunch- cup of tomato soup and 2 slices of toast
Snack- salt and vinegar crackers
Dinner - half a cheese pizza

Today has mostly been laying in bed and sleeping. Still not feeling well, razorblades in my throat. We went to see a film that we bought tickets to ages ago at 11pm so stocked up on cough drops and cold medicine. On the way home was feeling hungry so we put a frozen pizza in the oven.

Yippie for an extra hour in bed!

Day 26

Breakfast - Yoghurt with strawberries, blue berries and a 1/4 of a blue berry muffin broken on the top.
Lunch- left over chicken from the burrito bowl in a wrap with a cup of soup
Dinner - 2 Eggs in a basket
Snack - 3 crackers with cheese

The cupboard is getting bare.... I'm starting to feel bad again like I've caught it all over again.

I feel not being well is putting a dampner on how hard I'm finding it to be good. I can't taste much now and don't feel much like cooking. Almost a month in and I'm still finding being healthy a bit more harder than I thought.

Monday 26 October 2015

Day 25

Breakfast- plain toasted tortilla
Lunch- Went to Wetherspoons and had a chicken wrap with chips and a little bit of diet pepsi.
Dinner- cup of tomato soup and some bread

I'm still not walking to work I think the weather changing to cold its getting harder to get out of bed.

I went and saw my friends from work who are on maternity for lunch, we went t Wetherspoons for something cheap and cheerful. I have to say the chip were really nice, but because its so cheap the portions aren't that big so not a guilt. After work we went and saw Nick Frost - you know from Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World's End, Paul come on you know who I mean.... let me show you

See you know who I mean! He has a new book out about his life... it sounds really interesting but I have to wait until Dave has finished it!

Since we were late out only a little dinner.

Day 24

Breakfast - avocado on rye toast
Lunch - left over dinner from last night
Dinner - Chicken burrito bowl - brown rice, chilli kidney beans, chicken with onions and peppers, jalapenos and a tea spoon of sour cream

All is well, still not walking to work but feeling better.

Wednesday 21 October 2015

Day 23

Breakfast- Shredded wheat
Lunch- Bean and Salad wrap
Snack- 1 square of 75% cocoa chocolate
Dinner - Chicken with courgettes, onions, pepper and kale in a homemade tomato sauce

Dinner was really nice. Trying to eat more veg and it was full of it.

Reading a tip from Robin Shea's facebook -

VISUALIZATION GOALS: Picturing yourself successful before you’ve actually reached your goal. When, the “MINDS EYE” vividly pictures you overcoming obstacles, or celebrating achievements, it physiologically creates neural pathways in the brain just as if you had physically performed the action.
This Mental Imagery is the KEY to training our minds and creating the neural patterns we need to achieve our goals.
Process imagery is the meat and potatoes to lifestyle changes. For example, picture yourself...
- Walking away from temptation
- Preparing healthy meals
- Going to the gym
- SEE YOURSELF SUCCEEDING
Think through the images you are going to focus on, be specific in your images. Picture yourself overcoming real life situations; test your resistance and before you know it, your images will become second nature to your effort.

This sounding like good advice.... but I wonder if works with money too!

Monday 19 October 2015

Day 22- in all seriousness though

Forgot to weigh myself on day 20... mostly because I'm behind on my blogging so I forget what day we are on. I have lost 10 pounds so far, average of half a pound a day. Not being too hard on myself considering I haven't been brillant during my last 10 days. I really need to knuckle down as it's only going to slow down the closer I get to my day 100.  That's what I want to write about tonight. I can still see I'm eating with convenience rather than with thought. Don't get me wrong I am eating better and have cut out a lot of things that were regular ie. diet coke, chocolate, sweets, chips(french fries), pizza and other shit but I'm still not putting a lot of thought or effort in. It still seems more like a diet than a change. So I have some serious planning and thinking to do.

Still thinking positive and writing it down is definitely helping. In the words of Nick Helm - if you only believe in one thing, you gotta believe in yourself! Here's my theme song!

Breakfast-scrambled eggs
Lunch- bean and salad wrap
Dinner- lemon and garlic chicken with roasted veg and cous cous with tzatziki

Day 21 - Nick Helm

Breakfast- skipped
Lunch/dinner- sausage casserole with madh and kale.

My workout today consisted of fits of laughter! We went to comedy gig tonight to see Nick Helm and Dave got pulled up on stage. So funny and loads of laughs

I got to meet him too just in a different manner

Loads of fun!!!

Day 20

Breakfast - nothing
Lunch - Cake
Snack- cucumber & carrots with hummus
Dinner - chicken and chorizo paella

Today was a fun day! Went and painted some pottery at Riverside Paint a Pot. They have a little cafe on site and since we were so into the painting we had a pot of tea and some cake. It was nice, I haven't been have much on the sweet side so it was a nice treat. Post pictures when they are glazed and fired.

We when went over to Katie's to watch a few horror films, when we got there she had cooked some paella. I have never had it before and it was really tasty! Thanks Katie!!

Day 19

Breakfast - skipped
Lunch - cup of soup with cheese sandwich
Dinner- Reuben sandwich

Boring, boring, boring. Sorry for being boring!

Sunday 18 October 2015

Day 18

Breakfast- skipped
Lunch - Cup of soup and cheese sandwich
After work - 2 pints
Dinner - Bacon sandwich

Not a good day, I'm thinking my cold and sinuses are really playing havoc with me. what I should eat verses what I want to eat. Today though I think the alcohol played a part of it. Those pints went straight to my head especially as soon as I stood up from the table.

I haven't been walking because I haven't been able to breathe, my head it so stuffy.

Not looking forward to day 20!

Day 17

Breakfast - 6 cream crackers
Lunch - cup of soup and cheese sandwich
Dinner- eggs in a basket and 2 bacon rashers

Woke up with a headache and automatically thought it was lack of caffeine so had a small Starbucks. It wasn't caffeine it was the onset of a migraine. The kind that make you feel like you want to throw so a normal breakfast was out of the question as lunch time I was feeling hungry but didn't want to eat something too heavy. Dinner time was feeling a bit more normal but not 100% so dinner was just what we had in the house.

Thursday 15 October 2015

Day 16

Breakfast- plum and strawberries with yoghurt and muesli
Lunch- open faced pastrami sandwich
Dinner - chicken ceaser salad

Dave and I went to a movie themed pub quiz with Katie tonight and we had dinner at the pub. I went for a salad as I onyl have a few more days until weigh in and I want to make sure I've made up for the meals that I had earlier in the week. I also walked into work this morning but I forgot to turn off the app so I dont have accurate stats. It was the first walk for a while after being poorly.

I still don't feel myself something is still lingering in my system I'm sure.

Tuesday 13 October 2015

Day 15

Breakfast- Fresh peach with yoghurt and muesli
Lunch- Open face Reuben sandwich and cup of soup
Dinner- baked chicken wings

I feel a bit carb overloaded at the moment. I was walking around the shop at lunch time and was thinking it's getting a bit too cold for salad, what can I have that will warm me up, be quick and still filling. I walked up and down the aisles thinking. I recently bought the new Jamie Oliver cook book off the back of my friend Katie's recommendation and he makes a bread that is full of seeds and fibre but not many carbs. The kitchen at work is anything but a kitchen so I wouldn't be making any bread today but I did find this German rye bread that's really thin and full of fibre. What goes well with rye bread? Pastrami and sauerkraut! That's what I'll be having this week for lunch, I'll take a picture tomorrow.

Monday 12 October 2015

Day 14

Breakfast - Eggs in a basket
Lunch/Dinner - Tuna sandwich
Snack- 1 Chocolate hobnob (cookie)

Lazy day, not much movement and not much eating.

Cuddles with Doogie while Dave was working, painted nails and a bit a of tidying.

I'm going to have a sneaky peak at the scales in the morning. With not walking and eating 2 bad meals I'm a bit scared. Fingers crossed.

Day 13

Brunch - Eggs in a basket
Late Lunch Early Dinner - Fish and Chips

Eggs in a basket is my new favourite weekend breakfast (biscuits and gravy would be number one but I can't make that here!) If you aren't familiar with this dish... you cut a hole in your bread using a cup/glass or even a cookie cutter, put it in the frying pan with a little bit of butter let it toast on one side and then flip. Crack an egg in the hole of the bread until cooked to your egg liking desires.

It was tasty!

Late afternoon we went to the Marsden Jazz Festival. It was a nice day out. I drank half a pint of Mocha Mild, which was surprisingly nice. I have also had a few drinks of Dave's coca-cola, only because I wanted something wet.

When at the festival my sister was busy finding a place to live there as I told her it was a nice little village, so anyone who want to contribute any spare change, you can come stay for your donations.

Day 12 - Five Guys...oops

Breakfast- Key Lime pie flavoured yoghurt with blueberries and muesli
Lunch - Chicken and Quinoa Salad - First time have quinoa and it is alright!
Dinner - Little Five Guys Cheese burger - no french fries and only a couple of sips of Dave Strawberry Sprite

So tonight was 'Light Night' in Leeds, the city if full of artsy goodness but the one thing we are interested in is the Leeds International Film Festival trailer reel and catalogue give away. Tonight we plan for the film festival... reading, scheduling and transportation planning to make sure we get to see all the films we can and want to see.

We have schuduled in 58 films over the 2 week period. Its not the most we have done but its pretty decent going! So you'll see more that on there starting in November.

Something I have learned today- 1/5 of an avocado is your recommeded serving size. I normally eat whole one!

Sunday 11 October 2015

Day 11

Breakfast - plain yoghurt, blueberries and muesli
Lunch - Low cal/Low fat ready meal - braised beef and mash
Dinner - chicken with soy and honey sauce.

Hven't been walking still not feeling too good and haven't started the couch to 5k either. All in all pretty boring. I have been getting in some horror films for #31daysofhorror though.

Wednesday 7 October 2015

Day 10... First weigh in!

Was a bit excited and a bit nervous but it wasn't so bad, I have lost 6 pounds in 10 days. Not bad going! The thing I have found most surprising is that I haven't had a single drink/sip/sniff of diet coke. I think that is the biggest achievement!

I'm still not feeling well, today I had a craving for something stodgy, warm and comforting. I didn't have it but did go out for lunch with my friend Shayna. I had a falafel pita which was lovely and comforting, it didn't feel naughty and that's what we want. Something that can make us feel like we've had a lovely rich and comforting meal but not feel sluggish and guilty for it later.

Here is a picture... it is not my picture, I have found it on google images. I was too hungry to worry about pictures!

Breakfast - nothing, just a cup of tea and hot water with lemon - was feeling too bad to eat, only thought I make it a couple of hours in work today
Lunch - Falafel pita - well I perked up about mid morning after having some medication and I was hungry!
Dinner - Chilli - AGAIN but Dave added some new veg, more beans and a bit more heat and it was nice, cleared my sinuses for the night.

Day 9 - Boys you can skip this one

A whole lot of not feeling good going on! Sinuses blocked and period started so was really feeling sorry for myself.

Breakfast- plain yoghurt and blueberries with a sprinkle of muesli
Lunch- chicken salad wrap
Snack- chocolate chip cookie from bakery
Dinner - cereal - still don't feel like cooking.

I don't know if the period thing is scientific (wishful thinking) or physiological but I NEEDED chocolate! I could have ate some for breakfast but the skipped the pain au chocolat in hopes the craving went away, as you can see it didn't. So one chocolate chip cookie later, it seemed to fill the craving.

Did you know that drinking through a straw helps you drink larger amounts in a shorter period time?
Guess what, I got straws!

Monday 5 October 2015

Day 8

Boring day... no walking as the weather is wet and bit cooler and I have woke up with a cold. Was late getting to work, the bus drivers all seemed to be on the same scheduled so waited 30 mins for a bus and then all 3 turn up at once!

Breakfast - nothing too late to work
Snack- belvita breakfast biscuits
Lunch- Bean and salad wrap
Dinner- can't be bothered to cook so chilli again!

Be more interesting tomorrow, promise!

Sunday 4 October 2015

Day 7

Breakfast- 2 pieces of toast
Lunch - 1/2 bowl of chilli
Dinner- bowl of chilli

I know been eating a lot of Chilli! Well when Dave cooks he really cooks, uses the biggest pot in the house and then thinks he could of used a bigger pot! I think its ready for the freezer now.

I downloaded the NHS couch to 5 k programme today, I think I need to do a bit more than walking. I used to try to run, I even did a 10k. I just never learnt to do it properly, pretty much just jumped in. So I'm going to take my time and try to practise regularly. My mom gave me a book once called 'No Need for Speed' I have tried to read it a few a times and get to the part where it tells you to run but then I never go back to the book and I never stick to the running. I know I'm starting this late in the year and weather is going to get worse and the night are going to get longer but surely 3 out of 7 days I will be able to manage. Will keep you updated on the progress of that too!

3 more days to first weigh-in!

PS- I changed the setting on my blog, I didn't realise no one could comment without having to setup  a profile. Well I have taken that option off now so comment away.

Saturday 3 October 2015

Day 6 - and we all fall down

Well I can say the weekends are going to be a struggle but its only my first one so I'll try and learn from my mistakes.

Breakfast - cup of tea and a biscuit
Lunch - Some of Dave's homemade chilli
Snack- M&M's
Dinner - some salt and vinegar cracker things

So not a good day. Try again tomorrow!

Day 5 - I'm an aunt.... to some chickens!

Breakfast- 1 scrambled egg with ham
Lunch- bean and salad wrap
Dinner - Some of Dave's homemade chilli

2 of my nieces....

there are 2 more but they were in the garden. My sister Sarah and her soon to be husband Devon have also had a massive lifestyle change. They try their best to be as eco friendly, clean and green as they can be. They plan on living self sufficiently as soon as they have their own land. Where they are at the moment is big enough for them to have a few chickens so they went to pick them up today. Looking forward to a few breakfasts at there's on our next trip!!

In the hopes of drinking more water me and girls at work have started making jugs of water filled with fruit and stuff. Its working and it tastes nice and it is stopping me from drinking coke!

Day 4

Sorry been busy, so a bit late on these last few days....

Day 4 wasn't a good start, I took the bus into work as Dave and I were off after work and I didn't want to have to carry my bag all night. While I was on the bus I saw a cyclist get hit by a car. It was pretty scary and very distressing. I think they might have been okay but there was a lot of blood and at least he was wearing a helmet. When I walk to work I can see how crazy some of the cyclist and drivers use the road, I just hope everyone that passed that accident decided to drive/ride a little safer.

My day got better, that evening Dave and I went to a gig with his friend Tom for his birthday. We went and saw a band called Snarky Puppy and it was really fun! They are a jazz band and the vibe was brilliant, I think I might be developing jazz hands! When we were out we went and had a drink and something to eat. My first cheat meal! I had pizza... but I was good with it. I could have easily eaten the whole pizza but I only had 3 small slices and when I say small it was about the equivalent to 1 and half normal pizza slice size. I knew we were going out for dinner but wasn't sure where so I tried to make smart choices earlier in the day.

Breakfast- 2 scrambled eggs, ham and hot sauce
Lunch - Cup of tomato soup and 2 crackers with thin layer of cream cheese
Snack- apple
Dinner - Pizza and half a pint of beer
